Charlie prepares for her friend Simone's romantic homecoming in her flat. In the context of work, this one has been away for a while and the couple has already gone through struggles. Lame.
Bennett and Brooks must have wondered how best to start with little money. Alone with You is a very small film that can hardly hide the fact that it simply had budget constraints instead of giving the impression that the setting was deliberately chosen.
The acting, for example, isn't too convincing, and Crampton has actually fallen off when you see her here in this cameo. She used to have a nice flow and sometimes there are still roles in between that work, but these kinds of roles are mainly cast-offs that always place her in an annoying corner. Alone with You is not much different in that, but as a consolation the other actors don't play well either.
At times, the film tries to be classy, but the truth is that pretty much all of the directing points fall short. The camera fails to capture the story properly. Not a single nice point of view to be seen here, but the horror scenes are also portrayed very well. Furthermore, the location makes little impression and the directing duo can do little with the concept outside of a nice finale.
I don't need to say more about it. For a film that really wanted to play on some style exercises combined with (intentionally) confusing sequences, I thought it was boring. It is mainly that the final still manages to get something out of it, otherwise the figure would have been low. In the distance there is still potential, but then they should really take a little more time to get a better picture of everything.
