A bit cynical and also spicy, this French mid-seventies with Trintignant and Schneider in their typical sultry behavior for that time.
Middle-class film film in which love (?) exists for the sake of influence and money and only at the end becomes serious (?) romantic.
Still a famous star cast and actually no more than pure relaxation.
By the way : It's strange the link to "Un Homme et une Femme" from a few years earlier, also with Trintignant : the opening notes of the eponymous chanson, the allusion to the Formula 1 driver...

I found the beginning particularly strong and very fun contrary - it was a bit of a disappointment that that doesn't continue throughout the film, and it's just a bit more well-behaved and therefore less sharp in the main part. The ending is genius though. Schneider and Birkin are dazzlingly beautiful and make you wish you could step back in time to the 1970s. I was a little less impressed with Trintignant, but maybe that's because he looks a lot like someone I have a bit of trouble with. Disturbing.

One of those films that you know for sure could never be made again.
Curious story that is not that great at all, but it is a fun philosophical experiment with a top cast.
No idea why those misogynistic situations were necessary, but anyway.
