Love Me Tender is a western filled with songs from The King Of Rock & Roll: Elvis Presley. Presley plays a supporting role, but it is clear that the supporting role became more of a leading role as filming progressed. Would come out under a different name but they preferred to play it safe by taking this title. This was easy in terms of publicity because everything Elvis released on vinyl during this period automatically went gold. The hit could also be the title of the film. It probably wouldn't have mattered much because Elvis' film debut was, of course, already then, of historical value.

ELvis does his best but is played off the screen by the protagonists at times. Still not bad and a masterpiece compared to many of his later films. The songs are often used at strange moments, which has a crazy result. A must for Elvis fans.

First film with Elvis Presley, after which many more will follow (often 3 films a year). Because Elvis Presley had to make many films through a strangling contract, the films are often simple in simplicity and also shot quickly. Often the concept behind the Elvis Films was standard cliché story, cheerful feel good story, beautiful environments / sets, beautiful women and many Elvis songs. This film contains (the title already indicates) the sappy but legendary song "Love Me Tender". All in all, this movie looked pretty good.

Not bad but not very good either. Particularly enjoyed the photography - it still looks like a western - and the few Elvis songs. The story was less interesting to me and dragged on a bit. Good acting performances by the pros and Elvis doesn't do too badly either. He has a supporting role and that seems a bit strange so many years later. Undeniably, he has the star quality that doesn't suit his role. The film is also a bit off balance due to the emphasis on the songs of the person who eventually plays a supporting role. But it did give Elvis the chance to get into the movie world without having to carry the movie himself.
