The discovery of the bones of Richard III was of enormous historical value, but the media hype that followed marginalized the main motive. Stephen Frears sets things right in this re-enactment of the quest in which 45-year-old Philippa Langley [Sally Hawkins] joins the Richard III Society in Edinburgh despite chronic fatigue and decides to find out where Richard III's body is largely on her own left behind and to restore the negative image of this king formed mainly by Shakespeare. Hawkins is perfect in the lead role, but those who have little interest in the history of the English Royal Family and / or who are familiar with Shakespeare will have less connection with this.

I've had a soft spot for Sally Hawkins for years, but then she shouldn't get caught up in trivial things like this too often. It is a lackluster account of the search for the remains of King Richard III (1452-1485), who was maligned by Shakespeare. I'm used to better from director Stephen Frears.

Film was more about the living situation and emotional connection with Richard III of the lead actress and less about the technical search. Walking through a town and suddenly getting the feeling 'here he lies' seems a bit dubious. But worth watching. I don't know the real story
