Nice film about a crane driver who decides to participate in a major golf tournament without any preparation. Based on a fun true story that takes place in the mid-1970s. It takes a while before it gets going, but the film slowly gets better. Entertaining, but the humor could have been pushed a little more forward here and there.

Wonderful feel-good film about Maurice Flitcroft [Mark Rylance], a crane worker at a shipyard in Barrow-in-Furness who is in danger of losing his job at the age of 46 and has to look for other work. When he sees the outcome of the British Open Championship Golf on television, he decides to register for that tournament in 1976. With a combination of bluff, a misunderstanding and a bit of luck, he is allowed to compete against the greats during the qualification. , even though he has never played on an official golf course – partly due to opposition from the local golf club. Rylance is simply superior in the lead role, Hawkins shines as his loving wife. Craig Roberts plays the heart strings and the laughing muscles with verve and - just like Flitcroft himself - keeps both feet on the ground. Rhys Ifans is entertaining as the secretary of the British Open. Heart-warming, inspiring, but above all, top entertainment. If you liked Eddie The Eagle
