See How They Run provides a whodunnit story within a whodunnit story with nods to Agatha Christie's genre and stories. It manages to be a beautiful film without becoming a flat parody. The film is wonderfully decorated with warm and dark colors from the 50s. With a great cast and above all a wonderful Saoirse Ronan. It's not a real classic either, but I certainly enjoyed it and laughed at times. Nice to see another fascinating film between the arthouse films and the commercial franchise/reboot/sequel films.

Little new under the sun in this Agatha Christie-inspired comedic whodunit with a top line-up from whom you can expect more overall. Saoirse Ronan effortlessly steals the show.

Moderate whodunnit, but one with a corner.

Doesn't take the genre too seriously by using the many deliberately used clichés and explaining them to the viewer via the “breaking the 4th wall” technique. Three stories are intertwined which makes this film original in its genre. Also some flat humor and you have a special person. Like I said, a movie with a corner. But it's all a bit too lighthearted, which makes the film lack some depth. Some suspects with a motive, but it's still a little too superficial for me. Characters could be developed a little more deeply. Atmosphere could also be a little better. You do get the typical plot twist and a thoughtful thought at the end… I think Enola Holmes 2 that I saw a few days ago is much more atmospheric and fun to watch than this one. The recent films Murder on the Orient Express and Murder in the Nile were also of a much better and more atmospheric level. It was probably not the ambition and they only wanted to target genre. But am not convinced. Well worth a look for the original approach…
