Mediocre horror work, not bad but simply not original enough to stand out. The first hour is quite okay and has an exciting build-up, resulting in some genuinely scary scenes, but unfortunately everything falls apart in the silly climax. By then the film can no longer be taken seriously and everything descends to a questionable level. I had hoped that this would be a 'return to form' for director Neill Blomkamp, after the mediocre Chappie, but alas. This is by far his weakest film yet.

Blomkamp uses sci-fi and technology to look at the possessed from the inside, but the high concept fails to revive, or terrify, a standard possession story.

Revised due to lack of active memory of the progression and it ends up at the exact same number. Director Neill Blomkamp seemed to direct this mainly in order not to let his creativity stand still during the corona pandemic and therefore puts forward some interesting concepts. Technology is flawlessly combined with horror, despite the fact that Demonic never manages to be very exciting. A pity is the far too large dose of drama that unnecessarily slows down the proceedings, as well as a rather colorless finale. Blomkamp directs a professional film that emotionally offers too little to remain memorable, but in my opinion does not deserve the current low scores.
