Les Misérables plot

France in the nineteenth century. Jean Valjean is released from prison after a long time. However, he violates the terms of his parole and starts a new life as mayor elsewhere in the country. My version lasted 121 minutes and that was long overdue. The story of the miserable is well known, which helps when following the silent film. So rest assured. There is no singing

I can always appreciate Albert Capellani's work, but this was a bit disappointing. Despite the beautiful scene of the barricade fight, I cannot make enough of it. The film adaptations of Germinal (Zola), Le Chevalier de Maison-Rouge (Dumas) and especially Quatre-vingt-treize (Hugo) are so much better.
