Coded Bias plot
While working at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, media researcher Joy Buolamwini finds that facial recognition software has trouble recognizing her face. The reason? Her skin color. She starts an investigation into the implicit biases in artificial intelligence and discovers that many algorithms, mainly made by white men, react differently – or don't – to people who aren't. Together with other women, Joy fights for justice in today's automated society.
