Fine and atmospheric drama with a mystery sauce, certainly not horror as it is announced. Sydney Sweeney as Juliet does an excellent job, perfect for this role. I am also a fan of the piano, together with the violin the most beautiful musical instruments. Still a nice job under the Blumhouse grand pianos.

Now that the other 3 from this drama-horror series are still watching, I know that I should approach them more as dark dramas instead of horror.

Damn, how many films are called Nocturne. Pretty bizarre, because it's not an obvious name.
Anyway, I really appreciated the slow pace of the movie. The mutual jealousy and the further slipping of Sweeney's character came across as very believable. That is also important, because the film relies a lot on her acting. Furthermore, there is a nice floaty atmosphere and it felt like a light version of Black Swan.
It might have been a bit spicier, because the subcutaneous tension that is constantly present does not really come to a good outburst.
I'm still wondering about the ending. It seems clear to me that she fantasizes about performing her concerto well. In reality, she is dying on the statue. But is this true? Because people just walk on and still nothing has happened and sit on a bench chatting with each other. Or was the death thump just a fantasy? At least it should have been noticed.

A nice evening of piano films at the Blurp house. La Pianist (2001) and this one.

And then, to my surprise, I actually find this one better. Although, mwah, the ending is kept a bit too mysterious - even if it is in pretty nice images.

It is actually more difficult with the beautiful writing, and how the drawings in it seem to be just a little too far removed from the really obvious malicious input. Just as a comparison, The Ninth Gate really did that a bit more fun. Well, then you also call a Polanski - as a nice decent man you won't make it in the film world, it seems lately.

As the only really weak point actually - and perhaps surprisingly - it comes out to me that I don't find the two sisters, the 'wombies' credible as sisters. They don't actually look that much alike, if you look past the blond hair - but also all the mannerisms, movement and everything, it just doesn't add up. And that really detracts from the film in this case.
