"Stop and taste the world."
Seven-year-old Moncho is afraid of his teacher because his brother has told terrifying lies about this so-called cruel teacher. In reality, this teacher introduces his students to the world of poetry and nature. This completely different approach to teaching is diametrically opposed to the rise of fascism in Spain in 1936 and ultimately leads to tragedy.
