L'Assommoir plot

Lantier leaves Gervaise to live with Virginie. Gervaise, who stayed behind, starts a relationship with Coupeau, and after some time marries him. Virginie, who is Gervaise's colleague, hates her and does everything she can to thwart the couple. In the end, she tries to kill Coupeau.
