After the love break, she meets the diver Christoph. They are attracted to each other.

Director Christian Petzold reunites his protagonists from Transit (2018) in this film, in which he mixes romance with a large dash of magical realism.

The result is nothing to write home about. I prefer Petzold to keep both feet on the ground.

Vague film that is saved by the mysterious but certainly not unattractive Paula Beer and the beautiful music of Johann Sebastian Bach. Music that fits perfectly with this difficult to fathom story.

3.0*

A perhaps a little too faded approach to a vengeful water nymph - perhaps Del Toro or Shyamalan should venture into a more terrifying version - who can't bear the fact that her boyfriend has cheated on her. Petzold opted for a different approach and it is quite well-behaved, perfectly in line with an average movie house. It is partly because I have a high opinion of Paula Beer that I found this film quite OK. But it might be something more.

The biggest turn-off for me was the endless (and even repetitive) monologue as a guide to Berlin architecture. Who, as a movie viewer, is waiting for that moment? The film also remains vague. Fortunately we still have the synopsis or the info of The philosopher with some more explanation, because if you enter it blank, it becomes quite empty.
