The 76-year-old Robbie Robertson, guitarist and songwriter of the group, looks relaxed on his life and that of The Band. At sixteen, this son of a native Canadian mother and a Jewish father moved from Canada to the Mississippi Delta, where he got to know the other band members. They accompanied rockabilly artist Ronnie Hawkins, went on an illustrious tour with Bob Dylan and developed their own roots rock style. They caused a furore worldwide, until their farewell concert in 1976, which was recorded by Martin Scorsese in The Last Waltz.
