This is nice.
A serious cultural mix, but that doesn't make these kinds of films fun. Even with a Belgian touch, Bijvoet is simply very well suited for his role. The film itself is primarily a creature flick/body horror with a slight socially engaged background. But ultimately, it is the horror that takes the upper hand.
The cold aesthetic, interesting locations, and captivating lore ensure that this film manages to rise just a little above similar films. There was once a time when these kinds of films received the necessary attention and appreciation; I am mainly glad that they are still made occasionally.
