During the First World War, a love story unfolds between Józek, Ola and Tadek. Józek is a deserter from the Tsarist army who joins the emerging Polish Legion, Ola is an intelligence agent with the First Brigade and Tadek is a member of the Shooting Team. All three do not hesitate to go into battle, because they know that they can only realize their dreams in a free Poland. The film focuses on the Legion's journey from 1914 to 1916, from its departure from Oleandry to the Battle of Kosciuchnowka.
