A boy who loves challenges takes on a 1000-year-old witch. The witch lives in the body of another and pretends to be the neighbor. Meanwhile, the boy also has to deal with the divorce of his parents.

Pretty okay.
It was just a shame that there wasn't something more purely focused on horror, because that, in my opinion, was clearly the potential of this film. But because of the youthful characters and a presumed love for the 80s on the part of the directors, there is also some summery teen nonsense in it, which spoiled the atmosphere a bit here and there.
Too bad, because the creature design was pretty cool and the tension was increased at times. Nothing exceptional, not great gory or anything, but there could easily have been half a bit more if the film had focused more on those kinds of moments. The scenes in the harbor and the family drama are a lot less interesting.
Directing was also good, the acting was also not bad. In the end an entertaining little horror, here and there is somewhat reminiscent of The Hollow, qualitatively this is probably slightly better, but the balance was more correct in that other film. Oh well, those looking for decent horror filler need not worry too much with this film.

The Wretched doesn't do anything innovative, but as a small film with unknown actors and a low budget I can say that the film was not too bad for me.
The first hour the film is nice and mysterious and the Pierces know how to make it an exciting film. Interspersed with coming-of-age-like elements, this is a film after my heart. Only afterwards do you ask what the added value is of, for example, that party. The integration of the coming of age element could have been better and in retrospect that time could have been put even better into the exciting subject.
At times, the film is really strong in this regard. The directors know how to put down an atmospheric horror film. Next time they may only go full on for the horror.
Towards the end and under that tree the film loses me a bit and do you also wonder if it is all true that Ben has forgotten his brother, since we were watching him when he was not yet in touch came with the witch. The ending is of course a funny attempt, but I see no reason how that witch survived this unless it's another one...
Anyway, my curiosity has been aroused. On to the next films of these 2 gentlemen.

There was enough atmosphere in it and that was the strength of this film, if not the only one, because I didn't find it all that exciting. Was for me such an easypeasy movie to watch no, nice for one of the dead moments in your life, it is really watchable.
