An average of 3.5, although only 1 person voted. Ok, ok a 4.2 on IMDB (and rightly so) but since the reviews on Letterbox were also positive, and I was lured by the sentence ''from the creators of Pontypool'' I still put this on even though I had my reservations.

After a good half hour I turned it off just as loudly. (That's something I don't do very quickly, I couldn't bring myself to do it anymore, even with very low expectations). I find reality TV very irritating, all scripted of course, so I don't see that much difference with this one, except that it's over the top and supposedly has to be funny. I had to smile sparingly only once during the annoyances. I fast-forwarded a bit to see if the style would change, but no.

My tip, do with it what you will. If you haven't seen Pontypool, go see that instead. You're welcome.

The first fifteen minutes are among the most enjoyable parts of The Hoard, after that the makers repeat every joke until it is sad and the film becomes less attractive to get through by the minute. The satirical undertone is quite successful and the concept is fun, but you can stretch it so far before it starts to degenerate into blandness. Unfortunately, the director duo Jesse Thomas Cook and Matt Wiele do not see this themselves, which is why the film is mainly far too long and has quite a few boring moments. Despite a number of funny acting performances, but as a viewer you mainly wait until the film justifies its horror label. This suddenly comes to the fore in the finale, where it is designed so cheaply and uninspired that it mainly ends up as a real downer. Quite disappointing, because this film could have worked great in a considerably shorter format.
