The Addams Family (2019)

After being evicted from their old home, The Addams Family finds a dilapidated former institution just outside a small town in New Jersey. Wednesday [Chloë Grace Moretz] decides she will attend school here, and TV presenter Margaux Needler [Allison Janney] shows up in the sleepy town for a house makeover. In terms of plot and content, it is not much different from a random episode of the television series of yesteryear. It is too thin for an animated film, and the script is therefore more concerned with presenting standard elements and catchphrases than with original ideas.

I didn't have high expectations for this film, but I certainly didn't think it was bad. A nice introduction to the Addams universe. The story wasn't boring and it looked pretty good too. Furthermore, the voice acting was well chosen.

Quite a mediocre execution. I don't think the animated characters are all that well made, but the most annoying element was definitely the music, which was way too trendy for a film like this. Furthermore, the story isn't particularly strong either. But the funniest thing about Addams Family products is, of course, the quirky characters. And this one is clearly aimed primarily at children. Consequently, they watched it with great pleasure. For adults, however, it is somewhat less enjoyable.
