I do like historical films, especially when they are set before, during or after the First World War. He is not mentioned in the film, but the pacifist socialist Jean Jaurès was a strong supporter of Alfred Dreyfus and a firm believer in his innocence. Jean Jaurès was murdered years later, on the eve of WWI, by a nationalist lunatic. Emile Zola was also such a supporter of Dreyfus. His article, pamphlet in L'Aurore is world famous. The film therefore owes its title to this publication from 1898.

J'accuse is an expertly made film. Regardless of the controversial allegations against Polanksi, he is and remains a great director. The opening scene alone in the Military School in Paris exudes history. The scene is famous in which Dreyfus was demoted to an ordinary soldier and later sentenced to exile on Devil's Island.

Strong movie with strong characters. Dujardin bvb is doing an excellent job. There are few that stand out. The film exudes solidity and credibility. The atmosphere and setting are very good. The general opinion about Jews and anti-Semitism is also well represented. Strong film, no doubt. Good looking!

The film that mainly came into the spotlight (at least for me) because of protest against director Polanski. But I think the topic will also play a part. When I read the backstory of the case, this case resonated many years later. I didn't really know the story, so I was curious about the movie.

Jean Dujardin is cut out for these kinds of roles. The story is an ordinary representation of the facts, although you immediately see what judgment Polanski has in this case. Nothing wrong with that in itself, of course. The whole is nicely decorated. But unfortunately it never really impresses. Think of other films about scandals such as All the President's Man, where we get a very exciting film and end up following only a few journalists. I kind of missed that tension with J'Accuse. But perhaps in France the case is (even today) better known and the case is much more sensitive.

Nice movie, better than expected.

Very good account of the Dreyfus case, seen from the role of Army Commander Piquart at the time, head of the "Secret Information" section.

Solid portrayal of Jean Dujardin in this film, interesting and captivating all the way.

The astonishingly clever dialogue pushes the film even further upwards.

Polanski had been working on it for a while and he did a great job.
