On the wrong foot.

There I had hoped for a nice space epic with Portman in the lead role - and with the poster you quickly think in the direction of something Star Wars-like, but a bit closer and some more impressive images from space, or in a capsule with flashing lights and everything.

Well, this is not that kind of movie at all - this one is about something completely different. Perhaps that is also the reason that so many reactions are not very positive, because I also felt quite cheated for quite a large part of the film. But then it occurred to me that of course this story really happened, and that it is more of a psychological drama than something directly related to space.

I come back to Portman. Yet one of the actresses who appears as her name on the poster causes the film to end up on my to-see list very easily. Apart from the initial disappointment, the cover comes halfway through the film - what she plays here is a very unsympathetic lady who has lost track rather unpleasantly, but she does it so credibly that by the end of the credits you actually just hate her. have. Still a great achievement, to put it down like this.

And that goes for the entire movie as well. Perhaps not a plot with which it is easy to score audience-friendly, but a nice piece of work. And in hindsight I actually much prefer to see that - after all, it is this kind of film that I will remember in ten or twenty years' time.

Nice film about an astronaut who returns from space and cannot find her way back to earth. Based on a true story with a fascinating main character, but a little too pretentious. As a result, not everything works equally well. The film looks good and a great cast with quite a few well-known names.

Astronaut Lucy Cola [Natalie Portman] has just returned from a ten-day space mission during which she had a spiritual experience. Husband Drew [Dan Stevens] has always helped keep Lucy figuratively grounded, but now she's doing everything she can to get selected for another space mission. Her psychologist [Nick Offerman] has concerns Lucy's behavior becomes increasingly obsessive, leading her to become estranged from her husband and plunge headlong into an affair with fellow astronaut Mark Goodwin [Jon Hamm]. Complex psychological study, 'inspired by true events' with a role by Portman that can be qualitatively compared to The Black Swan and Jackie. Hawley couldn't have wished for a better replacement for Reese Witherspoon (who left the project after nine months to work on season two of Big Little Lies) for his directorial debut.
