I couldn't do much with this. I myself am not very familiar with the work of Agatha Christie, except that I have seen Orient Express, which I actually liked much better. However, I didn't find this story very interesting. The murders fly by at a rapid pace and the denouement is very disappointing. The killer's motive just didn't seem credible, and Poirot's backstory didn't add much either. On top of that, John Malkovich isn't exactly my favorite actor either.

I was enthusiastic about the way this series was portrayed, for example by means of the costumes, sets and locations. The setting was believable. Also funny to see Rupert Grint in an adult role. I hadn't seen anything from him after Harry Potter.

Okay, I'm really stuck, but the twist is completely unbelievable - even if it's a nice idea somewhere. In any case, Malkovich is doing very well, and so is Eamon Farren. Nice and lugubrious, that's also a plus, but otherwise... oh well, it was all in all doable, but after the good start it was a bit disappointing in the end, especially with regard to Poirot's past.

No ordinary Poirot.

Imagine, the detective's roots are being probed and his reliability is questioned...

Malkovich has enough charisma and acting talent to portray a wise, mysterious Poirot, but the story he finds himself in is improbable and far-fetched to say the least.

The first episode is very ordinary and almost without tension, but after that the events are explored more deeply so that you have to keep your attention for a while to finally dwell in a kind of psychological joust between the two opponents.

Couldn't appeal and a sequel was apparently not considered, despite good old Malkovich.
