Funny.

A classic Jing Wong project this, although he ultimately did not co-direct it. Aman Chang is credited as co-director (in the credits, that is), apparently there has been some confusion about JWong's role. Other than that, he does just about everything, from producer to screenwriter to actor, so maybe not that surprising.

Director credits or not, pure Jing Wong nonsense, this time with a thick focus on action. Good thing too, because the humor is, as always, a bit hit-and-miss. The volatility of the script also makes it a bit confusing at times and the acting is way over the top. Add some clumsy CG to that and you have a questionable film.

Were it not that the action scenes kick ass. Fine choreography, Donnie Yen is still great and there are some really cool stunts in there too. It ensures that there is always something to experience in this film. It is certainly not grand or high-quality, but it is very good entertainment. Oh, and Naoto Takenaka also has a part, so plenty of reasons to watch.

3.5*

This is one of those typical movies that you just have to watch without thinking too much. Lots of action (succeeded), lots of jokes (chinese, so I don't always have them?), and a splash of romance here and there (fortunately limited and relevant).

It is clear from everything that the makers knew what they were making and do not pretend otherwise. The best example of this is the playing time: just under an hour and a half (not counting credits).
But they also laugh about it themselves and let the characters themselves say that it actually makes no sense I'm japanese triad and your're Hong Kong police, why are you even in my life?.

Nice to see once, but no more than that.
