"Meet Mr. Link"
Sir Lionel Frost investigates all kinds of monsters and myths, but is not recognized by his mean-spirited colleagues. Hoping to finally be accepted by those around him, Frost sets out on an adventure in the Pacific Northwest to prove the existence of the legendary creature, Mr. Link. For this he is assisted by the wayward Adelina Fortnight who also has the map to find Link again.

Explorer Sir Lionel Frost [Hugh Jackman] longs for the recognition of his peers. When he finds a strange letter with directions to a so-called Sasquatch, he promises to retrieve the creature from the wilderness. Much to his surprise, the creature [Zack Galifianakis] turns out to be friendly and very civilized. With the help of Mr Link, Sir Lionel hopes to track down the legendary Yetis and, with the help of colleague Adelina Fortnight [Zoe Saldana], he sets out. A strange, not entirely successful mix of animation styles. The beautiful, detailed backgrounds are in stark contrast to the simplistically drawn characters. Jackmans makes an uninspired impression, but Galifianakis is fantastic as Mr Link, probably the first binary cartoon character (he chooses to call himself Suzan).

Never mention the chicken!
Passed. It is a plus that, unlike other animes, the characters are not annoying and manage to gain sympathy quite quickly, although Mr Link could be more than a lame joker for me. Missing Link draws heavily from the Jules Verne universe, in which an explorer, Sir Lionel Frost, decides to look for the Sasquatch in the hope of gaining membership in an eminent society of scientists. The arrogant chairman, Piggot-Dunceby, sends an assassin to prevent him from returning to London with Mr Link. This reminded me very much of Around the World in 80 days, although the makers give a different interpretation to the world journey that takes the characters to distant Tibet . It all goes smoothly, the animation is convincing and as a stop-motion film this seems like a great technical adventure. The only thing I notice is that it is told somewhat erratically and the film has no real point, but Missing Link is also not as predictable as I thought, with Link who is not accepted by the Yetis. The Indiana Jones-esque finale is extremely fun. Highly recommended for animation film fans. I thought it was of a high level between 3.5 and 4*. I'm really looking forward to their next film, Wildwood.
