Roland Drake is a private investigator in trouble. He hardly gets any assignments anymore and has received negative publicity. One day, Roland is approached by Katherine Montemar. She wants Roland to look for her missing father. Roland initially hesitates, but accepts the assignment anyway. The trouble starts when the two end up in bed together. Drake wakes up in a bloody bed, and Katherine is nowhere to be found.
