Beautiful subdued arthouse. I like films that explore other cultures, allowing me to immerse myself in local customs and landscapes. Not always pretty, but educational and interesting.

I especially found the first part to an hour of the film to be the most captivating. A young girl's cry for help to realize her dreams is thwarted by the family's conservative thinking. Beautiful authentic film with beautiful camera work. Stillistic also at moments where the images slowly dawn on you.

I do have the feeling of having missed something, because I cannot reconcile all the images or events. Nevertheless, entertaining film.

A dramatic video message completely unnerves the extremely popular actress Behnaz Jafari. First and foremost, she feels obliged to do something to remove all doubts about the authenticity of an act of desperation.

The film takes us on a journey that leads to small Iranian mountain villages where we meet the population: predominantly friendly and hospitable, but also attached to ingrained traditions that, at worst, explain the cry for help of the young girl in the video.

It is a beautiful piece of cinema, which fascinates until the end, with interesting facts, narrative passages and which is especially striking because of the very special and beautiful way of filming of director Jafar Panahi. The man takes you into the thoughts of his characters, as it were, by focusing the camera several times on one person who is not part of the action at that moment.

It is a process that I have always liked. It increases the intensity and brings your experience closer to the essence of the event.

Simple, natural and meaningful. “Se Rokh” was a hit.

This arthouse is fairly boring and very mediocre. A famous actress heads to a remote Iranian (Turkish-speaking) rural village with her director after a girl reported her suicide on her smartphone. Shocked, they want to know if this is real or fake. The idea is that the actress and director play themselves. However, I didn't think much interesting came out of this. I see some separate elements but cannot bring them together into a nice whole. The "shame" of choosing a career as an artist is repeatedly pointed out in ultra-conservative areas and I think that is the point that Panahi mainly wants to make. The woman with whom the wanted girl is hiding is an ex-actress, but who now lives as a pariah in her village because of the choice she made then. Also uninteresting conversations about the symbolic power of foreskin and the super stud bull of a local farmer and, as usual, a lot of static images to fast forward. Well, what should I do with that?
