Kevin Hart's over-the-top comedic style only works if he gets strong counterplay. He certainly gets that here from Tiffany Haddish. Hart plays the role of Teddy Walker, a man who has run away from his school exams and proclaimed that he would make it big in 'the school of life'. Seventeen years later, he seems to have made it big: he drives an expensive car and pays for dinner for his attractive, successful girlfriend Lisa [Megalyn Echikunwoke]. But it's all appearances. In fact, he has a moderately paid job as a BBQ vendor (something he is particularly good at) and is afraid of losing his girlfriend. When he accidentally blows up the shop, he is left without a job and no income. His best friend can help him get a job in the financial sector... but Teddy needs to get his high school diploma to do that. He enrolls in night school taught by the bold and very direct Carrie [Tiffany Haddish], but it's difficult for him.

The altercations between Hart and Haddish are highlights in this comedy that draws its strength from Teddy's entertaining classmates. Rob Riggle is funny as a bear of a guy with weak knees, but the film is stolen by Mary Lynn Rajskub as the neglected and 'blessed' housewife. Given the meager basic story, this has become a very successful comedy.

Much too loud comedy, which starts somewhat nice, but soon loses steam. Generally not the kind of humor I really appreciate. In addition, the acting performances are below par. I'm afraid I'll never be a fan of Kevin Hart.

Really one of those films where the plot is endlessly stretched because someone doesn't dare to tell the truth to his wife. And when it comes out, one does not want to listen to an explanation and the other explains it poorly so that it is still not resolved.

An annoying story, fortunately a bit brightened up by nice supporting roles and a few nice finds. The 'Christian Chicken' fast food restaurant is as absurd as it is witty. Of course we end with a repentant speech in which we all reflect on what is really important in life.

Anyway, what really struck me was that Kevin Hart's girlfriend had some really weird makeup, so her body was brown but her face was yellow. Real banana yellow. Just bizarre...
