Who was the most murdered woman in the world? That dubious honor belongs to Paula Maxa, the star actress of the Grand Guignol theater in the Pigalle district of Paris in the early 1930s. She died a total of more than 10,000 times on stage. In this dramatized film version, we meet an imperturbable woman who is hiding a terrible family secret. She is under the control of writer and director André de Lorde, nicknamed 'the Prince of Terror', who, with the help of a psychiatrist, keeps her under lock and key. Until a young journalist reports on the famous stage and quickly makes the connection with a series of gruesome murders in Pigalle. He falls hopelessly in love with Paula and also discovers her painful past. Will he be able to rescue her from the clutches of the dark figures that surround her?
