Images and sound reflect the duality of Portugal during the Second World War. A peaceful, God-fearing, farmland that provided an escape route for a hundred thousand European refugees to America. In addition, there was a political and cultural elite that concealed its Nazi sympathies just enough to allow Portugal to play a neutral role in international politics.
