Njah.

After Hellraiser this can also be added. This gives Dimension a fairly damaging reputation. They should just leave this kind of nonsense alone, or at least seriously invest in bringing these series up to standard again.

This new Children of the Corn is also really not worth watching. Halfway connected to the old films, but it never really feels like it's part of the series.

The horror is too incidental for that and barely makes sense. Effects are really not up to standard and the film is actually more of a drama, which contains some blood here and there so that it can be classified as horror.

Acting is not good, visually it is sad, soundtrack is an afterthought. Just produced as cheaply as possible, non-director behind the camera and hoping that people will buy it based on the franchise name.

A sad way of making films.

The arrival of director John Gulager raised some eyebrows, especially because it was a director who has previously dealt with bombastic horror comedies. Runaway is a very serious film with focused drama, but thanks to a somewhat capable cast, Gulager goes a long way. The predecessor also felt significantly cheaper, this film has a slightly more professional production. Nevertheless, the link with the source material is still missing and the children do not radiate any threat. Towards the end, screenwriter Joel Soisson introduces a lot of psychological elements that turn out mediocre, mainly because they don't add much all in all. The final approach, on the other hand, is nice, but does not disguise the lengthy and unnecessary run-up. They would have done better to scale back the dramatic effects a bit so that the atmosphere would be a bit stronger, but in the end that opportunity was not taken. The cast members provide some extra points, but it's clear that this wasn't Gulager's favorite project.
