Last Resort plot

The Russian Tania and her son Artyom have come to England. At the airport they are waiting for her fiancé to pick them up, but he is nowhere to be seen. The two are separated by customs and in an emergency Tania applies for political asylum. With her son she ends up in an asylum seekers center in Stonehaven, a sad seaside town where their meeting with Alfie, who works at the local gambling hall, is one of the few bright spots.
