Kind of romantic comedy, which does not excel in anything else, mainly aimed at a female audience as well. Design on paper is still nice: every time on the birthdays of a quirky clothing designer we see what the past year has brought her, especially in the field of love, but as a viewer you remain almost unmoved by it all in all. So no laughter and a tear, but a lot of drama but a shocking lack of humor that puts things in perspective. Must admit that the always somewhat exaggerated sentiment that you expect with such a type of film is fortunately absent, it is somewhat realistic. Stone tries very hard, but we would rather see her in the role of a secretary than the emancipated but compassion-hungry woman she has to put here. Beautiful supporting role of Ellen Burstyn as her mother, her few scenes betray a lonely class that the rest of the film lacks.

Tiresome film that starts nicely but slowly sinks into a deep valley of false sentiment and above all a very weak screenplay. Sharon Stone and Ellen Burstyn both deserve better than this.

The rest of the cast never convinces and the ending is hardly feasible.

Would anyone want to try this stuff anyway? It can now be seen on Film1.

Susan Walter revealed in multiple interviews that she originally wrote a coming-of-age comedy about a 25-year-old woman. She sought someone tough and vibrant to play the mother, and sent the script to Sharon Stone. On Stone's advice, Walter decided to adapt the script and cast Stone as a struggling middle-aged lady.

The end result turns out quite well. This despite the fact that in hindsight Stone was not the right actress to play the role of 46-year-old Senna. On the other hand, the chemistry between her and Tony Goldwyn does work. Nice to have seen once, but don't expect high and memorable moments.

2.5 *
