The Night Watchmen plot

"Some men were born heroes... It wasn't these guys."

Four bumbling security guards - one of them a novice - are at work in a Baltimore building. But then suddenly a group of bloodthirsty zombie-like vampires appears, some of whom are dressed as clowns. It soon becomes apparent that an incorrect delivery to the building is responsible for the outbreak. A handsome journalist comes to the rescue of the men. Together they will have to defeat the vampires before they spread across the city.

Ouch...this is really disappointing.

The concept seemed nice to me, but the execution really leaves much to be desired. Somehow the cute bloodthirsty clowns don't manage to attract attention. The gore is disappointing and the action scenes are somewhat weakly worked out. I also couldn't really appreciate the humor here. The cast didn't appeal to me either. 3/10

Phew, once again I fell for the laudatory text on the cover. In terms of setting, this The Night Watchmen can still pass, but the film falls short on a lot of points. If the killer clowns are still a positive starting point, that is most likely also the highlight. The other characters are all annoying, the humor is quite childish and in terms of horror and gore it was not all that special. In addition, the rather clumsy actions of the group of survivors lack tension, which makes this film quite long-winded despite its short running time.

Film with the sole purpose of entertaining the viewer by means of an excessive dose of nonsense. The Night Watchmen of course makes no sense, but the makers themselves know that and use it well. The cast members clearly enjoy themselves on set, the film has a healthy pace and it does not last unnecessarily long. Director Mitchell Altieri may not show much ambition and in some respects that is a pity, but you cannot take this concept very seriously. The film could have been a bit tougher and perhaps could have profited more from practical violence, but for now I had a great time.
