Another delightfully bizarre sci-fi story from the 50s. The silliness is simply delightful. When Dr. Marvin and his wife spot a huge UFO a few feet above their heads, the wife asks, "Was that a flying saucer?" Um, what did you think!?

Also nice that in this film the aliens ask all world leaders to come together, just like in The Day The Earth Stood Still or The Brain From Planet Arous. Typical for the aliens. Furthermore, the film borrows something from The War of The Worlds and has Ray Harryhausen as a trump card who provides beautiful final scenes in Washington. Some monuments are being demolished again!

Cute silliness, 2.5*.

Colorized.

Because the BluRay comes in both versions. And I'm such a culture barbarian.

Not bad done by the way. Some grain and 'leftover' black and white in the background, but still. I like it.

The film itself is quite nice, despite some questionable acting and the thin story. Little tension and extremely dated SFX. Still, everything is absolutely atmospheric and quite entertaining, but the last half hour the film becomes messy and is lost in a lot of explosions and mediocre fights with the UFOs.

The scariest part of the film is in the final shot. Where we see Marlowe's overly hairy back in close-up. Brrrr...

Reasonable.

the day the earth stood still had a much better smarter story, this is just evil aliens who want to conquer the world, still this is a nice movie and it has even managed to achieve a certain cult status.
