Shi Tu Xing Zhe plot
Just before detective Hong is killed, he manages to delete all files from his computer. As a result, a lot of undercover agents lose their only link to the police force. The files can still be retrieved, only a file called BlackJack is too corrupt to save. A few years later, however, BlackJack resurfaces.

HK Undercovers.
Based on a TV series, but that doesn't really matter. The film isn't all that different from the familiar undercover movies Hong Kong has to offer. A police case, moles, lots of awkward glances at each other, people who trust each other at first, then lose it. Familiar territory, in other words.
The first half hour is a bit more comical, something that doesn't really fit the film but probably carries over from the series. It somewhat detracts from the tension, and unfortunately, it's not all that hilarious, more like a bit lighthearted.
Nick Cheung and Louis Koo make a strong central duo, Ng is a great third, and Chiu Hung Hui is a cool boss. He's an actor who deserves a few more accolades than he usually gets. They all give a good performance, but the story is just a bit too familiar, and Boon, as director, doesn't quite manage to give the film his own unique touch.
But as a filler flick, it's not bad. Slickly shot, decently acted, and with a few decent twists. Not a great film, but good entertainment nonetheless.

Mediocre action film. The story is decent, but the execution makes it difficult to follow. This comes at the expense of the suspense. The film is easy to watch, however, as there's plenty of room for action scenes. These aren't great, but they're passable. Visually, the film is reasonably successful. 2.5/3.0
