Pretty boring and old-fashioned.

Maybe nice for the followers...

The apostles hardly have any personality, not to mention Mary Magdalene... In 2016 you expect something more refreshing.

The age-old propaganda against her is again indiscriminately adopted, while she was the wisest among the apostles in Gnostic writings and possibly Jesus' wife.

This movie positively surprised me. We saw many films over the years before his death, but now we finally see a film after his "death". The day after! And I have to say they made a great movie out of it. After the debacle of Ben Hur (2016), this was a relief.

The film starts off strong and looks beautiful too. After that, the film drops a bit and they have given a little too much attention to the interrogations. Was glad they weren't all interrogated. The film then only starts to come alive again when Clavius (Roman officer) who plays a very solid role (a bit worn out though) meets the apostles in the presence of Jesus. Mentioned here as Yeshua .

From that moment on, the film turns and we see a trek with many captivating moments. Nowhere bombastic, but well designed in time. Also a nice fitting ending. The second part is perhaps a bit more sober, but that is precisely because Clavius suddenly finds himself in a completely different company. I can certainly enjoy this. Loved the Apostles playing by the way!

Definitely worth a look and especially for lovers of Christianity.

Stumbled upon this movie by accident. At first I thought I had ended up in a bombastic spectacle story, but gradually this turns out to be an almost (well, I am not one of the believers) believable account of the resurrection of Jesus, from the point of view of one Clavius, a beautiful role of Joseph Fiennes, who also starred in the Handmaid's Tale.

The search for the body of Christ drove Clavius to the followers, the apostles. The sudden appearance of Him should have been placed a little more in the mood of a delusion, to my taste, but oh well.

Then the film gets bogged down in a pitiful EO ending, nevertheless the decoration (although they didn't have much to offer) was beautiful and the sets were taken care of down to the last detail.
