Beautiful film that touches on (very) many things. At first I thought I was in a version of Footloose, but the film gets better as it goes along. The story is more interesting than you first expect and shifts in the film from the parent-child problem to the processing loss. That in itself is not wrong, but nothing is actually elaborated on - and that is a shame. Script clearly has gaps and the ending is indeed laughable.

Hmm.

Bravetown is a film that never really manages to be impressive, but is very entertaining overall. But this gives the film an advantage over the other films I usually watch, because I always enjoy high-school dramas very quickly.

In any case, it opens remarkably well. The scenes in the disco in particular were strikingly colorful and well presented. However, it is immediately noticeable that the music never takes over in the film and is almost always placed in the background. With the genre of music you already feel doubts arising.

Again with a few typical American actors. In this case Duhamel. He does a nice job, but I can see him turning into a Bruce Willis or Nicolas Cage soon. Till is also participating again, I think these kinds of roles are relatively safe for him.

Story is ok to follow. Well-developed drama that brings out various confrontational themes. Some are quite well developed, some less so. The sentimental ending at the tree in particular feels rather run-down. The fact that Till starts lecturing Duhamel towards the end also feels a bit strange, because it doesn't feel like Duhamel has helped Till much.

The dance aspect of the film is also somewhat tamely portrayed. DJ in a failed group, suddenly whole forms of creativity emerge. A little more elaboration on that area. The depiction of the dancing is also somewhat restrained. But luckily it's all interesting.

This is partly due to the solid acting and the reasonable pace that is maintained. Once again I thought it was a very interesting film. Well-behaved and within the lines, but at times with good ideas. The disco scenes in the beginning were especially cool. It was also nice that Till didn't join the dance in the end, because I felt that coming.

Romantic drama about a young man struggling with his demons. But salvation is near... The cheerleading scenes themselves have little to do with the story.
