Beautiful film about the famous publisher Max Perkins who has to deal with the flamboyant writer Thomas Wolfe. The film gives a beautiful picture of the time and looks very nice. Especially the toil about the editing and the interaction between the characters Perkins and Wolfe make this film very nice.
The acting, especially by Firth, is very good, Jude Law does a great job and the strong supporting roles of Guy Pierce and Nicole Kidman should not be forgotten.
At first it took me a while to get into it, but as it progressed the film started to grab me more and more and I was ultimately very impressed.
Good.

The greatness of a writer in the narrow-mindedness of his own convictions, where he ignores the true essence of life. That essence lies for everyone on the horizon of his being and Max understands that, good role of Firth, when after the long term as a protégé of Wolfe, good acting of Law, he begins to experience his own deeper parts. In all this relational interpersonal chaos Bernstein, tightly played by Kidman, lifts a corner of the veil in her own search for the deeper being in her life and the sacrifice of this for 1 person. The Finale indicates (literally and figuratively) that connections can sometimes be disrupted and what that is at the expense of. Good in-depth film about the life of a great writer for his time.
