The Revenant plot

1823. What a bit of vinegar on this site.. Beautiful film with a very good Leonardo. I find the criticism of whether or not something is survivable or not so lame. I think it's awful to watch a movie that way. I don't think you can really enjoy a story/film that way.
I really enjoyed the story and the nature/environment that complete the picture. The duration is long, but gives the film a certain peace. I saw this film in the cinema and then I was already very pleased with The Revenant. After three years a revision: chapeau!

Picked up The Revenant again last night. Nice and appropriate with the freezing cold weather outside 
This time on my new 55 inch TV and I have to say that it all looked very enchanting. No 4K material unfortunately, but the blu-ray also works wonders. The story is not that exciting, but is worked out quite well by Iñárritu. It won't be boring. Even when the image pauses for a moment and shows us some breathtaking nature shots, it is a joy to watch. Snowy mountains. streams. trees. The work is soothing. But then the story continues and you are again drawn into Glass's war of attrition.
The camera work is great again (I say 'again' because it was great with Birdman too). Well deserved Oscar for the best camera work. And then DiCaprio. tah. He is simply the best actor of his generation. I don't want to disparage other actors and that's why I say from his generation. Because Daniel Day-Lewis is a cannon of an actor, but so is Jack Nicholson. But what a top performance by Tom Hardy. This is (if you ask me) his best role to date. When I went to admire the film for the first time in the cinema, I did not recognize it immediately.
The Revenant is a very realistic, hard film and has some unforgettable scenes. For many, the grizzly scene might be the most brutal, but for me, perhaps more impressive is the escape of the Indians, when Glass is dragged into the wild water and sucked into a waterfall. What a fantastically filmed scene this is. But there are more. Stone good movie.

When trapper Hugh Glass [Leonardo DiCaprio] is badly injured in a bear attack, expedition leader Andrew Hendry [Domnhaal Gleeson] offers a hefty sum for three volunteers to stay with Hugh until help arrives or until he dies of his injuries. Hugh's son Hawk [Forrest Goodluck], the young, dutiful Bridger [Will Poulter] and the veteran John Fitzgerald [Tom Hardy] volunteer. The opportunistic Fitzgerald hopes Glass will die soon and decides to bury him and leave him for dead. But Glass Refuses to Die embarks on a near-impossible, grueling journey through the icy, snowy environment with only one goal: to take revenge on the man who left him for dead. Shot on location, the grueling conditions and tremendous physical and mental effort DiCaprio went to to achieve the greatest possible realism demonstrate a rarely seen dedication that deservedly earned him his fifth Oscar nomination and his first Oscar. Oscars also went to Iñárittu and cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, something justifiable from the thrilling first half hour alone. In DiCaprio's shadow, Hardy and Poulter prove why they are among the best actors of their generation. And this contains the most compelling piece of CGI in movie history! Without a doubt one of the best movies of the 21st century.
