When she comes home, her head still bandaged after the cosmetic surgery, nothing is the same. The two boys doubt whether the person who is now in the house is their mother.

Not a cheerful film, but most films from Austria do not strike me as that. Ulrich Seidle, Michael Haneke just to name a few names don't exactly show the cheerful side of life. On the contrary. With Ich seh Ich Seh I often had to think of that other deprived horror film Hagazussa (2017) that was also set in the Austrian Alps, although in a very different time. The movie was even more gritty.
But coming back to Ich Sehe... At first I missed the the twist quite in the beginning. Watched the first 10 minutes again and then the whole story became completely clear to me. So I didn't have to revise the rest. One more thing about the acting; That was fine, although those two first aiders would have been better left out. Added little.
Final conclusion: a pretty decent film this Ich Seh, although I thought it was all far fetched. But yes, it's movie. So...

Twin brothers Lukas and Elias [Lukas and Elias Schwartz] increasingly feel that the woman [Susanne Wuest] who has just returned from the hospital after major head and face surgery is their mother. Even when 'mother' can take her bandage off they are not convinced and the brother out loud wonders is their mother. And in their eyes there is only one person who can answer that question. Initially intriguing psychological thriller, it starts very slowly and suffers from the colorless play of the brothers Schwartz. In addition, it contains a twist that the writers probably found very intelligent. It is certainly surprising, but anyone who thinks it is intelligent to lie to the viewer outright has a lot to learn.

Uncomfortable film about twins who think that the woman who comes home after an operation is not their real mother. The atmosphere that radiates an uneasy feeling is strong and the excellent acting also contribute to a solid thriller.

It might be a shame that after ten minutes an important item of the film is already thrown away, but there are still some clues that indicate that there is only one boy left. I thought there was an accident once in the movie. It could explain why the mother was operated on.

Nevertheless, the film remains exciting. Especially towards the end it even gets wry when the mother was tied up and tortured. The absolute final scene could indicate that everyone has passed away and they are now reunited.
