film reviews in 100 words: The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (in 100 words) - film reviewsin 100 words .blogspot.be

Really … REALLY a pleasant and emotional feel-good experience. The combination between Hollywood and Bollywood is, just like the story, much smoother than in part one. Hilarious English humor mixed with Indian culture. Each character is given a simple individual story, which gives each actor the chance to add something personal. The focus is also more on “love” rather than “aging”… Love Actually but in India… with seniors?! This movie won't be equally interesting or entertaining for everyone, but I loved every second of it. Definitely a musical and visual delight for the senses.

Maybe not as surprising as part 1. But that's always tricky. I myself have been to Jaipur and once again the makers succeed in mixing the atmosphere of India with an amusing story. Nicely light!

The cast of The Best Marigold Hotel minus Tom Wilkinson returns for this sequel, this time written by Madden and Ol Parker. Muriel [Maggie Smith] and Sonny [Dev Patel] have been running the hotel for eight months now and with the help of the early visitors, things are moving in the right direction. They are hoping for a financial investment from Ty Burley [David Strathairn], but his decision depends on a formal review by a hotel reviewer, who obviously does not reveal his identity. The run-up to Sonny's marriage to Sunaina [Tina Desai] is the common thread, but we learn about each character's life after making decisions at The Best Marigold Hotel. While Strathairn and Richard Gere get very little screen time, this is a worthy sequel with a little more romance and emotional depth.
