Nadezhda means "hope", an appropriate name for the main character. It's easy to sympathize with her because she is a driven individual who takes on the challenge of the bureaucratic system. Some things would not be possible in the Benelux. A solution for that house might be possible through debt mediation, and the banks are better protected here. Apparently it is partly based on true events, however unlikely some events may seem.

The plot is tightly constructed, with recurring elements such as the water pistol and the marked banknotes. Ethically, she is faced with a difficult choice. She decides that robbing a bank is less bad than the alternatives. After all, it is the banking sector that is in danger of losing its house. In 2011, the banking crisis was still fresh in people's minds.

It is in the European realistic style: a leisurely pace, the emphasis on the dialogues and the social and psychological side. A handheld camera usually follows the main character, although occasionally it lingers on something else. When she walks over a hill, the cameraman follows along, resulting in choppy images. It's pretty much what you would see if you followed her from a few feet away. This is the best I've seen from Bulgaria - not that I've seen much of it yet.

This film intrigued me. I found the story quite exciting and very oppressive, I kept wanting to know what would happen next and I became more and more interested in it. Strong, realistic acting and it never gets boring, as far as I'm concerned. It looked away easily. An 8. 4*

Tragicomic Bulgarian film about teacher Nadezhda (Margita Gosheva), an honest, hardworking woman who is plagued by financial problems. Slowly but surely her life begins to take on nightmarish proportions. Fortunately, the film is not too heavy-handed and adds some black humor at crucial moments, making the downward spiral in which the main character is entangled just bearable. Well played and soberly but effectively depicted.
