Maya the Bee Movie plot
"Friendship is thicker than honey"
Maya the Bee defies all the rules of the beehive when she disrupts the order with her explorer spirit. When the 'queen jelly' is stolen from the hive, suspicion goes to the hornets, as well as Maya as their henchman. That is why Maya the Bee goes in search of the real thieves.

Young Maya [Coco Jack Gillies] takes her first independent steps in the bee world. Her impulsiveness and curiosity do not sit well with her mentor Buzzlina [Jack Weaver], the queen's lady-in-waiting [Miriam Margolyes], especially after Maya befriends Flip the grasshopper [Richard Roxburgh] and realizes that bees can live happily with all species. Buzzlina wants to provoke a conflict with the hornets as part of a plot to gain control. Maya and her new boyfriend Willy [Kodi Smit-McPhee], however, put a stop to this and during an exploration of the area, they also discover the truth behind the dreaded Gorgo. The understated animation is compensated by the simple but entertaining story, the funny characters and the endearing voice acting. The clumsy ants Arnie [David Collins] and Barney [Shane Dundas] steal the show. Spawned two sequels.
