The season started off quite interesting, but after episode 4 things deteriorated considerably. With episode 5 we get a filler with a nice twist, but episode 6 is so weak and boring that I wonder how this will turn out to be the last season. It's a big macguffin chase with so-called high stakes that are repeated over and over again by everyone, but it doesn't appeal to the imagination like in the earlier seasons.

In previous seasons we also saw some roles reserved for the co-cast, in this season it is mainly the Michael show and the rest is given very little depth and the bridge crew hardly matters.

Have now seen episode 9. ST: Discovery certainly manages to make it exciting. The antagonists are also better developed and you start to understand them. I'm looking forward to the finale, but somehow it remains a shame that the season itself varies so much in quality. That was also somewhat the case with the previous season. You were really looking forward to the final and it did not disappoint. This will never go down in history as a top season of Trek, if only for the somewhat forced character development of Michael and the fact that almost all other characters do not matter.

I also realized that the mystery is a bit lacking: Think ST:TNG. You always found yourself in a situation where your curiosity was stimulated and you slowly discovered more and more about the characters. In Discovery it is all so easy and instant gratification. But hey, it does look nice.
