My 600-Lb Life follows the lives of people who struggle with their extreme obesity. Often caused by emotional problems, they have now ended up in a negative spiral from which it is difficult for them to escape. They can barely walk, hardly ever leave their home and become totally isolated. Their only consolation: food. In a last-ditch effort to save their lives, they pin their hopes on Doctor Nowzaradan, who uses a gastric bypass to remove the physical need to eat a lot. But that only makes sense if the patients can also mentally ensure that they eat less and exercise. But adjusting their diet is no easy task. Can they finally break the rut and start a healthy life? .
