Un Amore plot

Alessandro and Anna, just over 18 years old, meet by chance during an Interrail trip to Spain. It is a hot summer in the late 1990s and the two immediately fall in love. However, their lives are far more complicated than the fate that brought them together, and soon the two are forced to part ways. Over the years they remain connected by an intense correspondence, never being able to muster up the courage to see each other. But twenty years after their first meeting and now adults, they meet again in Bologna. Their feeling, which has never faded over time, will have to collide with the interferences of a reality more complex than the one they had created through words alone.

Un Amore season 1

Six-part Italian love drama about Anna and Alessandro who meet again after a long time in Bologna. As in similar series such as One Day and Normal People, two lovers boldly take the viewer by the hand for an extended period of time. A powerful melancholic premise.

In Un Amore we see a young Anna and Alessandro traveling to Spain as interrailers in two timelines. The summer love, filmed in fresh colours, is convincing. After 25 years we see that Anna (an impressive Micaela Ramazzotti - The Good Mothers) and Alessandro (Stefano Accorsi) have never been able to forget each other. In typical Italian-flamboyant style, Un Amore is an ode to love.

Yet the initial layering does not fully emerge. The middle section of Un Amore is a superficial and fleeting search for the essence of renewed love. Of course, the coppia d'amore has led several lives in the intervening years. And they have kept in touch through many letters. But the intriguing question of whether this dramatic summer love can become a lifelong love is only partially answered. Is true love an impossible love after all?
