In 'This Close' the soul mates Kate and Michael are both deaf. Kate is overjoyed to have been proposed to by her boyfriend Danny. Michael's love life, on the other hand, is a lot worse. His relationship just ended. Kate tries to support him as best she can, but notices that they are slowly growing apart. Kate and Michael also have to deal with the necessary setbacks at work.
