The Walk-In plot
'True crime' drama based on the true story of Matthew Collins, member of the 'Hope Not Hate' organization, which campaigns against racism and fascism. He infiltrated the British neo-Nazi movement 'National Action' as a mole, following a neo-Nazi who planned to assassinate the Prime Minister. Collins was forced to flee the UK and hide in the 1990s, only to return years later to start a new life.

Against the backdrop of Brexit, the five-part The Walk-In tells the story of former racist Matthew Collins (an excellent Stephen Graham as usual) who fights emerging far-right movements of white jihadists and neo-Nazis. The screenplay for this biopic is by Jeff Pope (A Confession). Pope based his work on, among other things, the books of the real Matthew Collins. The end result is a fascinating series that navigates between a recent historical narrative, drama and thriller.
Unfortunately, that is the weak point. The whole thing seems quite messy due to the multitude of themes - including (de)radicalization, social inequality, loneliness, family issues. This, and the mixing of fictional and factual news images, creates a cocktail that promises spicy, but ultimately tastes a bit tasteless.

To a true event and interesting to follow what is happening in our society in terms of extreme views and violence.
It was quite long-winded, although the series does have the ambition to be as complete as possible in addressing multiple facets around the theme.
