The Mill plot
The Mill tells the story of life at Quarry Bank Mill in Cheshire in the 1830s through the eyes of Esther Price and Daniel Bate. Esther is a young miller who risks her own position to stand up for justice. Daniel is a progressive young engineer with a troubled past. Britain is in a time when the industrial revolution is changing the country beyond recognition. The series explores themes such as workers' rights, safety in milling, child labor laws, and the political movement to improve these conditions.
