The Corner plot

Gary, husband and father, was once a successful investor but is now trapped in a heroin addiction. His wife Fran was the first to become addicted, but she is now making frantic efforts to kick the habit. Their 15-year-old son DeAndre is a drug dealer and about to become a father. The miniseries that eventually resulted in The Wire. It is not entirely fair to compare the two, because here the addicts are more central and less the drug trafficking/police work. What this series does well is that it shows both individual choices and responsibility, but also shows drug use as a social problem. And all of that spiced up with the wonderfully ironic humor that made The Wire so much fun.
